What does my assessment pay for?
Your assessment money pays for Street Lights, upkeep of the common ground areas, front entrance, lake, fountain, pavilion and playground areas. The largest expenses are mowing and street lights. Please see Budget on the Finance Page.
How do I register a complaint?
You may contact any of the trustees listed on the Contact Page. The Trustees are responsible for the items listed above. All other complaints, such as personal upkeep of property, pets, etc., please contact St. Louis County's numbers listed on the contact page. St. Louis County is also responsible for any street repairs. MSD is responsible for the sewers. If there is an emergency, such as reporting a crime in progress, call 911. If you are witnessing vandalism at the park, fighting, etc. call the non-emergency number 889-2341. Be very descriptive of the activity, people or cars involved.
Why does someone else collect the subdivision fees?
City and Village Tax collects subdivision fees for many subdivisions. They have the expertise and manpower to take care of the notices, collections and delinquent charges. They are legally able to place liens on homes, or contact St. Louis County Courts on behalf of Fox Lake for unpaid assessments.
Why are the picnic tables being moved from the Pavilion?
We have had many incidents of vandalism at the pavilion. It has become a gathering area for teens to hang out. There had been several fires in the trash cans, one which came close to burning the pavilion. Other incidents include graffiti on the ceiling, public urination, drug usage, alcohol consumption, broken bottles, etc. Families did not feel safe bringing their young children to the playground. As soon as the tables were removed, the behavior stopped immediately. Tables were put back for a couple of events, and the behavior started up again. The tables will be taken away after the Family Picnic, and might be put back next spring. Some of the teens did not live in our subdivision.
Do the Trustees receive payments?
All Trustees are volunteers. Many have been living in the subdivision for a very long time. They are concerned about the neighborhood and would like to keep all resident's property at a high value. Anyone wishing to become a trustee, please contact a current trustee, or send a message here and you will be invited to our next meeting. Trustees do not receive payment, and must also pay the assessment, as all homeowners.
What can be done about the vandalism?
Only you can help stop the vandalism. All incidents must be reported to the police. You must get to know your immediate neighbors. Make sure you keep an eye on the neighborhood. If something doesn't seem right to you, please contact the police. They want to help. In order to help the neighborhood with vandalism, residents should leave their garage door closed. It would help tremendously if all homeowners turned on their porch lights in the evening. If homes are well lighted, there is a less chance of vandalism to that home. It also makes for a safer subdivision.
What is the speed limit in our subdivision?
The speed limit is 25 mph. If a child accidentally runs into the street, you probably won't kill the child if you are doing 25, but anything higher is lethal. Keep your speed down while driving on our streets.
